Public Philosophy and Service

I have engaged in public philosophy by writing opinion pieces, such as whether confederate monuments ought to be removed from public spaces. I have also given talks for local ‘Pubology’ or Theology on Tap events on Is the Virtuous Life Compatible with Happiness? and C.S. Lewis’ The Four Loves.

During the 2019-2020 and the 2020-2021 academic years, I served as a coach for the Ann Arbor High School Ethics Bowl program and was also a mentor for the program, Philosophy with Kids, which brings philosophy into elementary and middle school classrooms.

I have served my department by organizing and leading a reading group on moral cognition (summer 2020), served as the student representative on the job search committee during the 2018-2019 academic year, and from 2017-2019 was a peer mentor for incoming graduate students. I currently organize and put on professional development workshops for other graduate students in my department.
